Question Closing Inane Threads in the Inane Forum

This board is described as a place for the inane, yet threads that "have no point" are closed. Inane is defined as something that lacks sense or substance, so why axe these threads that wander away from their original aim (if there was one) or are just blowing off steam?

Yeah, I got my WoW thread closed. I just asked if I would like it, got closed quick.

*Shrugs* I can only assume that some threads are troll / flame bait.

I already tried to explain it once before, but a certain person keeps closing any thread I say it in, or my own. This is a personal thing, and has nothing to do with the issue. It is a way for this person to avoid responsibility, and silence anyone with a complaint about their fascist self-indulgence.

As I stated on my previously deleted and uncommented to thread on the same topic, I save all my posts for evidence. Asking why someone abuses their authority on a large site like this one is not flamebait or trolling, and the god damn excuse that it is such only proves my point further.

Good luck with your attempt to be heard. Your best bet is to pm the big cheese and bypass this joke for public discourse or gripes. Your post will disappear or be locked.

Someone's bitter. You have to understand that you don't pay for the bandwidth that the site is throwing out every day. the person locking and deleting threads is representing that person, and looking out for that person's best interests. The last thing this site needs, or any site for that matter is a bunch of useless garbage threads that have been repeated en masse taking up bandwidth, disk space, and so on. the amount of members this site has and the traffic it gets daily makes this necessary.

Well, then they could just axe the whole OOC forum if its taking up bandwidth...

Hell, it's not like I'm gonna cry if they do. I don't think I've ever posted here before this thread. I just saw a silly thread get locked for being "inane" and had to scratch my head.

"Spam" is against the forum guidelines.

As Spooky said (I think it was spooky who closed it), it was the wrong place to ask.

It was Inde, not Spooky. And it /was/ off topic.

Spooky, Inde, Inde, Spooky... Both admins, so it doesn't matter. They said it doesn't belong here, usually when an admin makes a decision it is final.

So then shouldn't it be called "Off-Topic and the Absurd... Except When We Say So"...?

No, it should be called "Off-Topic & The Absurd". The "if it doesn't belong here it will be moved/locked" bit goes completely without saying.

Addition: After some consideration, I rule that this thread be closed. Just in case anybody is wondering, the reason I did so is because this should've been posted in the Site Feedback forum anyway. If this matter is so important to you that it simply cannot die, please PM an admin or use the Site Feedback forum. Thank you.

Off topic and absurd does not mean 'run wild and post what you want'

GW vs XXX are closed because frankly, is this the place to ask? Do I go to an NRA convention and ask how gun control should be done? A fansite is not the place to ask (especially as it degenerates into flames usually).

Furthermore, posts that are degenerating or are absolutely pointless are also closed. Mind you, such a thread would go into Site Feedback, not O-T forum.
